What TalkTalk Offers

Key takeaways

  • BT acquired TalkTalk's consumer broadband business on 5 October 2026. The CMA review was still open when we checked on 23 October.
  • The offers we compare are full fibre (FTTP), from 65Mbps to 900Mbps.
  • On current new contracts, prices rise by a fixed £4 a month each April, shown before you sign.
  • New full fibre customers cannot add a TalkTalk home phone line, so it may not suit you if you need a landline.

TalkTalk sells full fibre (FTTP), where fibre runs into your home. Its wider range also includes part fibre (FTTC) and copper broadband (ADSL) technologies, but the offers we compare are full fibre.

TalkTalk also promotes TalkTalk U, a full fibre plan where the speed varies with your household's use at one monthly price. It is not among the offers we compare, so check availability directly with TalkTalk.

Broadband Types and Speeds

TalkTalk quotes average download speeds measured at peak times on its own customers' lines, to the router, not over Wi-Fi. TalkTalk follows Ofcom's voluntary speed code, so you should get a personal estimate and a guaranteed minimum speed before you order.

TalkTalk and BT: What Has Changed

BT acquired TalkTalk's consumer broadband business on 5 October 2026. As checked on 23 October, the CMA case remained open. TalkTalk and BT say they will operate separately during the review.

Existing customers should continue using their usual TalkTalk service and support.

Who TalkTalk May Suit

It may suit you if

Households that want a choice of full fibre speeds up to 900Mbps and want to know their price rises in advance. Current full fibre offers include a Wi-Fi 6 router, which can help in larger or busier homes.

It may be less suitable if

  • You need a landline. TalkTalk full fibre is broadband only for new customers.
  • You use a telecare or personal alarm that connects through a phone line. TalkTalk says Digital Voice does not support these.
  • You want a price that stays fixed for the whole contract.
  • You would rather wait until the outcome of the regulatory review is known.

Router, Installation, Fees and Contracts

Router

Current full fibre offers include the Wi-Fi Hub 3, a Wi-Fi 6 router that can work with mesh extenders. Router equipment varies by package. TalkTalk routers must be returned when you leave.

Installation

If your home needs a full fibre connection fitted, an engineer will usually install a small fibre box indoors. TalkTalk says most installations take about two hours.

Phone line

TalkTalk full fibre is a data only service for new customers. Digital Voice, its digital home phone, is currently offered to existing full fibre customers only. It does not work in a power cut unless you have backup, and TalkTalk offers a battery backup option for eligible customers without mobile signal. It does not support care alarms that use a phone line.

Check: If you rely on a landline, a personal alarm or a home phone for emergencies, confirm with TalkTalk what it can offer at your address before you order.

Contract and set-up fees

Current full fibre offers run for 24 months with no set-up fee. The charges on your deal and contract apply.

Price rises

On current new contracts, TalkTalk raises broadband prices by £4 a month each April. The amounts are shown in pounds and pence when you sign, as Ofcom rules have required since January 2025. Each deal above shows the future prices TalkTalk supplied.

Speed guarantee

If your download speed falls below your guaranteed minimum on at least three successive days after you report it, and TalkTalk cannot fix it within 30 days, you can leave without paying exit fees.

TV and extras

TalkTalk currently describes TV as an add-on for existing customers. TV is not included in the offers we compare. Call plans, called Calling Boosts, are monthly add-ons.
